GBAC STAR Service Accreditation Gains Ground with Cleaning Service Providers Around the World

ROSEMONT, Ill.Jan. 13, 2022—Facility service providers in the United States, its territories, and Canada have recently achieved GBAC STAR™ Service Accreditation from the Global Biorisk Advisory Council (GBAC), a Division of ISSA. The accreditation validates the cleaning, disinfection, and infection prevention programs of building service contractors (BSCs) so they can help facility customers prepare for, respond to, and recover from biorisks.

“There truly is a science to cleaning, and GBAC STAR Service Accreditation helps commercial cleaning companies follow the science to properly clean for health,” said GBAC Executive Director Patricia Olinger. “This makes all types of facilities safer, from offices to schools to airports to convention centers.”

Facilities of all types and sizes can also pursue GBAC STAR accreditation. By partnering with an accredited outsourced service provider, these facilities further enhance their commitment to public health and safety. GBAC STAR accreditations are renewed annually to ensure that organizations are focused on continual improvement. To date, 42 BSCs servicing thousands of facilities around the world have achieved accreditation.

The newly accredited service providers are:

  • ABC Sales & Services Inc. in Saint Thomas, Virgin Islands
  • Alpha & Omega Building Service in Kettering, Ohio
  • Alpine Building Maintenance in Delta, British Columbia
  • Best Service Pros Ltd. in Coquitlam, British Columbia
  • General Facility Care LLC in Tampa, Fla.
  • Sentral Services in Kensington, Md.

“When facility service providers are GBAC STAR accredited, they give building owners, managers, and occupants the confidence that the right cleaning, disinfection, and infection prevention protocols are being followed,” said ISSA Executive Director John Barrett. “Plus, their accreditation makes them well positioned to help the facilities they manage pursue and maintain Facility Accreditation.”
