The GBAC^® STAR Destination program positions communities to demonstrate their dedication to health, wellness, and resilience.

What is different about this GBAC STAR program?

The GBAC STAR Destination program supports the destination’s regeneration plan by helping businesses in the community become resilient to future known (i.e., influenza, norovirus, etc.), and unknown infectious disease outbreaks through the GBAC STAR Accreditation. The GBAC STAR Accreditation program is a comprehensive impact management plan focused on continuous improvement, compliance, risk assessment, and preparedness against infectious disease.

Becoming a Destination and promoting the best practices for infectious disease prevention, ensures your community is resilient and can sustain through another unexpected event like the pandemic.

This designation allows the community to operate under the same guidelines for health, wellness, and resilience.
It communicates to travelers, both professional and leisure, that they can experience your city with confidence in their travel, entertainment, lodging, and cuisine.
It communicates to your residents that investment is being made in the public health of their city, as well as bolstering economic drivers of the city.

Complimentary GBAC STAR Facility Accreditation for the CVB, DMO, Municipality, or COC leading the effort. (This is not a requirement, but is encouraged to better promote the program).

GBAC STAR Destination Requirements

To achieve the GBAC STAR Destination designation, the DMO, municipality, or Chamber of Commerce leading the effort must:

Prepare and sign a GBAC STAR Destination Pledge.
Identify key targets/industries within the community to achieve GBAC STAR accreditation. For example: Transportation centers, mass gathering venues, hospitality, key community events, building service contractors, et al.
Establish a GBAC STAR Destination Collaboration Team that includes members from the key stakeholders identified within the community.
Collaboration Team members must complete the GBAC Fundamentals Online Course & GBAC Destination Training (GBAC STAR Program Overview including 20 Element Introduction).
Collaboration Team members must complete the GBAC Fundamentals Online Course & GBAC Destination Training (GBAC STAR Program Overview including 20 Element Introduction). Up to five (5) courses included ($1,500 value) with additional courses at a discounted rate of $75.

GBAC STAR Diamond Destination Requirements

To achieve the GBAC STAR Destination designation, the CVB, DMO, municipality, or Chamber of Commerce leading the effort must:

Prepare and sign a GBAC STAR Destination Pledge.
Identify key targets/industries within the community to achieve GBAC STAR accreditation.

Establish a GBAC STAR Destination Collaboration Team that includes key stakeholders/industry leaders within the community
