GBAC STARs Align at National Restaurant Association Show 2022

ROSEMONT, Ill.May 16, 2022—The National Restaurant Association (NRA) Show 2022 promises an all-around GBAC STAR™ experience with event, convention center, hotel, and service provider accreditation from the Global Biorisk Advisory Council (GBAC), a Division of ISSA. McCormick Place, the event location, and hotels Hyatt Centric Chicago Magnificent Mile and Hyatt Regency Chicago have achieved GBAC STAR Facility Accreditation. United Service Companies, the event’s facility service provider, has also earned GBAC STAR Service Accreditation, and NRA Show 2022 is a GBAC STAR accredited event.

“Events that partner with GBAC STAR accredited organizations ensure that attendees are guaranteed fully validated infection prevention, response, and recovery policies and procedures throughout their entire trip,” said GBAC Senior Director Michael Diamond. “I look forward to joining the restaurant industry for a fantastic weekend of innovations and insights.”

The event will take place Saturday, May 21 to Tuesday, May 24 at McCormick Place in Chicago. The show has partnered with SafeExpo to provide an onsite COVID-19 testing center for attendees who may be experiencing symptoms or need a test to comply with travel requirements.

The GBAC STAR program provides third-party validation that facilities, service providers, events, destinations, and technologies meet standards for cleaning, disinfection, and infection prevention. Participating organizations must demonstrate fulfillment of several program elements and a commitment to continuous improvement. Event organizers hosting a GBAC STAR accredited event must align with a comprehensive checklist of policies and procedures.

GBAC and ISSA will be onsite at booth 2843 with resources for restaurant professionals to improve cleaning practices and building health. Visitors can discuss foodservice cleaning and safety innovations with experts such as Diamond.
