Five New Technologies Join GBAC STAR Registered Lists

ROSEMONT, Ill.October 6, 2022—The Global Biorisk Advisory Council™ (GBAC), a Division of ISSA, today announced that Optisolves’s SAVI® software and Pathfinder™ surface imaging technology, Lighthouse Environmental Infection Prevention’s Comprehensive Facility Assessment, Kikkoman’s ATP Test (Kikkoman A3), and Interactive Hospital Training for Healthcare from Tork, an Essity Brand, have achieved the GBAC STAR™ Registered Technology & Programs designation. These offerings were assessed by the GBAC Advisory Council Scientific Board for scientific validity, usability, practicality, safety, and efficacy.

Optisolve’s SAVI software is a cloud-based quality management system that allows a facility’s team to plan, conduct, track, and report site assessments regarding cleaning quality, surface cleaning validation, and environmental monitoring and auditing. The Pathfinder surface imaging technology allows facility managers and cleaning teams to assess surfaces for contamination, visually detect any risks, and fine-tune cleaning practices for improved health, safety, and facility performance.

Lighthouse Environmental Infection Prevention’s Comprehensive Facility Assessment & Report is a multimodal audit of an entire environment. Based on a facility’s specific needs, audits can be completed for environmental services, food services, patient transport, facilities management, laundry and linen, and waste management. Following the assessment, users will be provided with a detailed report containing data on all key assessment findings, recommendations, and an action plan. Options include environmental infection prevention and safety, operations, staffing and productivity, biological testing of surfaces and air, regulatory compliance, training and development, and indoor air quality monitoring.

Tork Interactive Clean Hospital Training, based on the Association for the Health Care Environment’s Practice Guidance for Healthcare Care Environmental Cleaning, is a desktop tool designed to make the training process for cleaning healthcare facilities engaging and efficient. It features a virtual interactive patient room to learn the right strategies and follow the correct steps for optimal. Tork Clean Hands training, available on desktop and virtual reality, allows users to interact and train on the World Health Organization’s  5 Moments for Hand Hygiene in a realistic, safe environment- aiming to boost compliance.

The Kikkoman ATP Test, A3 Technology is an easy-to-use, rapid test used to assess the effectiveness of cleaning. The test consists of a sensitive luminometer instrument and a test swab that uses firefly luciferase as a detection method for the level of cleanliness on surfaces. The test is used in a wide variety of industries and facilities, including food processing plants, hospitals, restaurants, office buildings, hotels, cruise ships, and many other applications.

“Each of these unique offerings has been thoroughly vetted by GBAC experts to ensure they meet the highest standard of cleaning for health,” said GBAC Executive Director Patricia Olinger. “As the world navigates new viruses, these technologies and programs will be key for facilities looking to obtain GBAC STAR Facility Accreditation and offer peace of mind for any employees, patients, or guests.”

To achieve GBAC STAR Registered status, organizations must demonstrate that their product or service addresses real problems effectively and provide evidence that the offering will contribute to preventing the spread of COVID-19 or any other diseases. Companies also must show that their offerings improve efficacy, cost, health, and safety over existing offerings on the market.
