Ad Rail USA’s Safe 2 Touch Program Addressing Escalator Safety and Germ Prevention Joins GBAC STAR Registered List

ROSEMONT, Ill.February 14, 2023—The Global Biorisk Advisory Council™ (GBAC), a Division of ISSA, today announced that the Safe 2 Touch program from Ad Rail USA™ has achieved the GBAC STAR™ Registered Programs & Technology designation. The GBAC Advisory Council Scientific Board has assessed the program for scientific validity, usability, practicality, safety, and efficacy.

“Our team is hyper-focused on solving the 120-year-old problem of not only rider safety, but also disease prevention on escalators,” said Ad Rail USA CEO Robert Lovell. “After extensive scientific and legal review, we are proud to join the robust list of registered programs & technology list with our Safe 2 Touch program addressing germ prevention on the third dirtiest surface in a public facility.”

Ad Rail USA utilizes a proprietary film which is applied to existing escalator handrails for media and event sponsorship campaigns for top national brands. Those brands include Amazon, Raytheon, GlaxoSmithKline, Panasonic, Sprint, and IBM to name a few. The product does not alter or impact the existing warranties on escalator systems. Safe 2 Touch can be easily applied to any handrail, escalator, or moving walkway.

“The Ad Rail Safe 2 Touch program is unique compared to some of our traditional GBAC Registered Programs. In working with the Ad Rail Team, we have learned a lot about properly maintained, and importantly for the GBAC Registered Program, how to properly clean and disinfect escalator handrails,” said GBAC Executive Director Patricia Olinger. “Cleaning and disinfecting continue to be top of mind for everyone, and awarding the GBAC STAR Registered Seal to Ad Rail USA is another step toward protecting human health. The public’s reluctance to hold on to escalator handrails due to the germ factor results in injury and liability for public facilities. Facilities utilizing the Safe 2 Touch program can reassure visitors of their commitment to protecting everyone’s health and safety.”
